Additionally, a 2nd extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16 ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

All models in the Custom Series offer a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority using this jack will mute the internal speakers. The AC30C2 uses two 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speakers.
The AC30C2 amp makes use of 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and uses 4 x EL84 tubes to deliver 30 watts of power. True "Bypass" switching takes the entire effect loop out of the circuit. The AC30C2 also provides an effects loop for incorporating your favourite effects into your sound. All Custom Series amps can use the VOX VFS2 footswitch, allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play. The AC30C2 also includes an additional tone control in the Reverb section. A warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Custom Series amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. You can sweeten the sound of your Custom Series amplifier using the VOX Classic Tremolo effect. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Custom Series can deliver everything from a clean VOX "chimey" sound to a powerful overdriven tone. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. VOX Custom Series amps offer two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own.īoth channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. North Coast Music offers the AC30C2 with an upgraded 13 ply baltic cabinet as an extra cost option. Surprisingly, the AC-30C2 amp is only two pounds heavier than the AC30CC2.
The AC30CC2, along with its predecessor, the AC-30TB, had 13 ply baltic birch plywood enclosures. The AC30C2 cabinet is completely constructed of MDF (medium density fiber board, or particle board). Eliminatiing the rectfier tube makes the amp more dependable.
When it fails, it will blow the main fuse and shut the amp down. The first tube to fail in an AC-30 amp is typically the GZ-34 rectifier tube. However, the diminishing quality of GZ-34 rectifier tubes in recent years has become a real problem. Many feel that the audio compression from tube rectifier induced voltage sag is a central ingredient in AC-30 tone. The change away from tube rectification in the AC30C2 offended some Vox purists. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control and the Top Boost channel offers. This was the first time since the early 1990's that the AC-30 did not have a GZ-34 tube rectifier. VOX Custom Series amps offer two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. The GZ34 rectifier tube was dropped from the AC30C2 amp in favor of diode rectification. The AC30C2 also has tremolo and a spring based reverb. Line out and effects loop jacks were mounted in the upper rear panel. The first channel incorporates the preamp circuitry from the original AC-30 "Normal" amp while the second channel featured the Vox AC-30 "Top Boost" circuit. The AC-30C2 is produced by Vox in China and offered a number of significant changes from the AC-30CC2. Based on the classic AC30 design, the exciting new AC30C2 offers two channels - normal and top boost. The AC30C2 replaced the AC30CC2 in January 2010.
